Dg 105

Before you say it, I've already searched for it....And of course I come up with the most convoluted list of results on the planet.

I stopped by my local CarQuest yesterday, and they had DG 105 in stock, so I picked up a bottle for $10. I know there are a lot of DG fans on here (I being a HUGE fan of their car wash, DG 901/902). Just so I'm clear, it seems like DG 105 is sort of like an AIO? It says it's a cleaner AND a polish. However, do most of you use it as an LSP? Also, are you just applying it via PC, allowing it to haze, and then buffing off?

Would applying 105 and then topping with AW be a nice combo? I'm going to presume it would be. I just wanted some thoughts/opinions/comments on DG 105.

Thanks.

The 501 is more of an AIO vs. 105, as it has a lot more cleaning ability. Yes, the 105 & AW combo is a good one. The bonding agent (601) does help with durability, but isn't required. When using 601, apply it to the surface (very thin like everything else) and let it haze. 10 minutes or so. Don't wipe it off. Apply the 105 over the hazed 601 and let it sit for 45 mins or so. Wipe off and enjoy! I always apply it by hand because I use 601 prior, however others apply it with a pc.

Duragloss #105 is just about the only sealant I use now. It doesn't do a lot of cleaning, but it can do a little. However, I don't use it as a cleaner, just a LSP.

I apply it over Poli-Seal or DG #601. When I am doing my own vehicles and have more time, I use #601 and when I am doing a detail, I use Poli-Seal. #601 and Poli-Seal have much better cleaning abilities.

I have done side by side tests with numerous other sealants and #105 always wins the durability test. I am currently about to test it against KSG and Z2. If it wins that or even holds up to those two, I will forever use it. It is so much easier to apply and I have not had it last less than 7 months on any application on my own vehicles with no toppers on two of them.

I apply it by hand with a foam pad. Wait 30 min and remove.

These are both excellent posts!!! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for and more. Thank you so much, guys. I appreciate the feedback. I'll pick up some 601, just so I reap the full benefits of 105.

Have you guys ever used 105 as a wheel sealant?

That's exactly how I applied my 601 & 105. I then followed up with AW.

Agreed.

How does 501 stand up as an AIO compared to Klasse/ZAIO/JW/etc?

Can it be used as a stand alone with good durability and shine?

501 is much more durable than Klasse. I don't have any experience with the others. 501 can easily last a few months.

Does 501 leave any good protection behind? Should it be used in addition to a sealant or can it by a stand alone?

It has great protection. It is a sealant on it's own, but you could top it with 105 or something else for added protection. Like I said, it will easily protect for a few months, in real world conditions. Even longer if you refresh it with AW.

601 -105 best combo IMHO done by hand!

I use it via PC , also 111 is a nice lsp / topper.

101 is also a nice medium AIO and give an awesome look I may like it better than 105.

Between the Auto /polishes/sealants based on 1-10 cleaning ability.

#105 / 10

#101 / 5

#111 / 0

( per Bill ay DG )

I have no tried 501. What is the difference in looks and durability ? I wonder how it differs chemically ? Anyone know. Its listed as Marine and RV polish. Maybe it's just the 105 rebottled.

Eisenhulk, i use a 501/105 combo for my wheels and i can dang near just pressure wash my wheels clean..i have a ford f150 and they do dust quite a bit..i am a huge fan of 105..if im gonna use a sealant, this is it. To be clear i put down 501/wait a while/then top with 105

Curious myself to hear how 105 stacks up againts Z and KSG

105 looks great on silver so it's a natural for most wheels...

However, on black I'd have to give the edge to 111 it's slicker and IMHO looks better. 105 is kinda... bland. The 111 is easier to apply (105 often streaks on me) but is less durable.

105 is infinitely durable and is my go to for winter as well as my wife's car that gets washed about once a month.

105 never streaks on me.

105/111 and AW maint. is my favorite combo.

I use DG summer and winter , I love it , customers love it. I've had great luck on black also. IMO unprofessional opinion BG makes some of the best stuff out there . I have a ton of the stuff talked about on here including boutique stuff and still love the DG look. IMO it does not give the plastic look nearly as much a "Z"
