I just purchased a kit from Zaino with a bunch of detailing products. I have a brand new 06 Toyota Prius and I`d like to keep it looking great. So this Saturday, I expect to:

    1. Wash (Z7)

    2. Claybar

    3. Polish (Z2 + ZFX)

    4. Rainx the windows

I hear great things about Zaino`s longevity, and that I would maybe only need to use the ZFX stuff once or twice a year. What about the other products? At what interval do other Zaino users wash? polish? claybar? Please assume I`m not a car detailing nut who loves to be out there every weekend -- I`d like to get by with as infrequent paint care as I need to.

I think Zaino users wash their car as frequently as other users on this site, which is to say 1-3 times a week! The more often you apply any finish protection product, the less contaminants and dirt will want to adhere to your finish, and the less often you will have to perform polishing or clay bar process. A lot depends on your locale and whether the car is garaged, etc., and Zaino is definitely one of the most durable products out there, but to maintain things, I would figure on reapplying the Zaino every 3-6 months and at least once a year doing something more substantial, like clay bar and some swirl removal.

Zaino is very durable and to maintain it is quite easy. are you doing all this by hand ?sounds to me like you could go with an approach like this. wash , clay, wash again, dry with WW, apply Z2pro with ZFX x 3 ( would use Z6 in between coats of Z2pro ). you can also add a paint cleaner ( such as AIO ) before the Z2 pro application. can then maintain by washing once a week and applying Z6 or Z8 after you dry. if you do not have much swirling or marring this will work the first time around but you have to be careful when washing as this can induce marring. this approach as described above, including washing once a week, can be done twice a year as a bare bones protection. myself I would add another layer of Z2pro after washing and drying about two or three months into the six month duration.the car may not be up to Autopian standards for looks or protection but will be much nicer than the average person`s car. this would be my advice on how to protect the car with a small amount of time. hope this will help you out.

    Zaino maintenance:

    - Wash when dirty

    - Apply Z6 or Z8 after clean (optional)

    - Reapply Z2 Pro 2-3 times per year

Use a good washing/drying technique (to minimize marring), and you`ll be set.

Wash every week no matter what ( even if i don`t drive it)

always apply Z8 after washing and a couple more times during the week, its awesome.

Apply Z5 and Z2pro once a month or every 2 weeks if I`m board , don`t have too though

because it has the best protection and durability in the industry !

I have masterd ZFX usage for my car I mix just enough for 2 coats of each.

I would put on at least 2 coats....it`s ok to space them out a few weeks if you want.

I also would get the Z6....does wonders in prolonging the durability of the sealant. Use this after every wash.

What Zane said but I`m reapplying 4x a year. Have 3 coats on now so I feel I`m good for a while.

So what I understand is something like:

once a week (for me, maybe 2 or 3): simply wash the car, and

twice a year: the whole shebang, including a couple coats of Z2 with ZFX and Z6 afterwards

or do I need to use Z2 (without ZFX?) at a greater frequency than twice a year?

Thanks for all the help to a noob like me!

WW just means a waffle weave ( drying towel) I would say if you wash once a week and top with Z6 you should do the whole shebang twice a year. you may not need the Z2 without ZFX more than twice a year but most people agree that an extra layer of Z2 , 2 or 3 months into you 6 month duration would give some extra protection . I have gone 5 months ( in the winter ) on my initial 3coats of Z2pro ( enabled with ZFX) with washes followed by Z6 when the weather permits. the choice is up to you. are you willing to give you car an extra layer of protecion after a wash and Z6 wipe ? to me it is easy to do and puts my mind at ease. once you get used to using the product adding another layer is very quick. does this make sense to you ? hope I helped you a little

WW = Waffle Weave drying towel

Zaino is very very durable. On the other hand is not very hard to put on. So you can put a coat of Z2 once a month or two. But you simply may not need it.

The rest of the process you can do it when you feel the car needs it. If you park it outside you may need to do it more frequently, if you live an inclimate weather some micro marring may occur while you clean the snow off the car. It depends on many things.

    Regards

    Nick
