I tied the Z2 Pro on the hood of our van.

    wash

    clay

    orbital polish with Mothers PowerPolish

    50a/50w wipedown

    Z1(left side)

    Duragloss PBA(right side)

Zaino Z2 Pro (15 minute dry time in 45 degree weather)

Applied the Z1 which went on easy but doesn`t smell very good to the left side of the hood, and applied Durgloss PBA to the right side. I used an applicator and applied the Z2 Pro to the left side(went on extremely easy) and then applied the Z2Pro to the right side(easy again). I let it dry for 15 minutes and it wiped away with ease. The look is very clear and glossy and I expect it to improve slightly as it cures. First impression- IMPRESSIVE.

I used the Duragloss PBA to test others claims that it was compatible with Zaino. I would have to concur with that assessment(at this point). There was possibly some Z1 transfer to the Duragloss side as I applied Z2 Pro to the left side first. I`m interested in seeing how the beading of the two sides compares. I`ll update.

What ever user friendly issues Zaino might have had in the past have been addressed as Z2Pro was a breeze to use.

Also looking forward to all your impressions since I will likely be using the Zaino system this year.

got a quick shower tonight and I went to check the beading. Both sides are beading small, tight beads. Very similar to the beading of Collinite 845.

Indeed. Water just rushes off the body panels.

1 week + update.... both sides have equal gloss and continue to look great. After a washing both sides initially beaded but the Duragloss PBA side took on more of a sheeting action wheras the Z1 side contined to hold its beads. IMO the Zaino bonded over the Duragloss PBA fine but the Z1 side holds its beading longer. This leads me to conclude that Z1 probably has a hardening type of effect.

Z1 has a bonding effect. The side with the PBA did not allow the Z2PRO to bond and usage without Z1 or ZFX also will not allow proper bonding. What you are viewing is rapid degradation of the protection due to lack of paint and sealant bonding.

If this were my vehicle I would apply Z1 to the PBA side and protect that paint before any damage incurs.

    wannafbody Thanks for the update!!

It is interesting to read the explanation of what happens without the use of Z1 or ZFX`d Zaino products. Thanks blkZ28Conv

I believe it did bond based on the slickness, inital wash water beading as well as rain beading but I don`t want to argue the issue. I`m going to let the experiment continue and monitor it for my own curiosity(since it`s my mom`s van). I think this just shows that Z1 or ZFX is a much better than using Z2 Pro by itself or with other products.

I also believe that you would see much better durability if you used ZFX as apposed to Z1.

The usage of Z sealants without bonding agents reduces these products to no more than a wipe-on-wipe-off type of product (i.e wax or glaze). There will be some initial slickness and water repellancy but like a wax/glaze will quickly degrade (2 day (glaze) 2- 8 weeks (waxes)) in most cases.

This is not for argument sakes, but what will be accomplished by continuing the experiment? Beading or protection indicators(beading) will return?

Your experiement is flawed with the usage of Z1 and Z2PRO. You buffed after 15 minutes at a ambient temperature of 45*. You did not mention that the combo was dried. I can assume it was from the ease in which you buffed. Personally, I have never experienced such rapid drying at that temp even with the low humidity of winter. I truly doubt that the Z1/Z2PRO combo has a chance to fully dry and initiate the curing process.

I am surprised that both sides haven`t shown signs of protection failure. :nixweiss

I let Z1 haze and then applied the Z2 Pro. After 15 minutes it seemd to be dry. It wiped off easily without any smearing. Slickness was good as well as water beading. If the beading dies quickly(I`ll assume user error) then I`ll redo the whole process as the weather should warm up in the next couple weeks. As for the PBA it`s just to see what happens- as some have claimed good durability using Z5 or Z2Pro by themselves while others have claimed poor durability. I`m assuning in the long run the Z1 side should kick the other sides butt.
