I got a quick question. what polishes have you guys used that best allow zaino products to bond with them? I`ve heard some people say that zaino has crappy durability but I seriously think it has something to do with the way they prep the surface before using it. I`m sure if the surface is in optimal bonding conditions for a zaino product, it will last months. n e way, I have moderate swirls on my car and I want to remove them before I use z5 pro and zcs. I will be getting a flex and I was thinking of using the meguiars line of products like #83 or #80, but I`ve heard 80 has a lot of oils and I just dont think z5 will bond well to it at all. Do you guys recommend any other polishes out there? Or is it also possible to use an oily polish and then remove the excess oils with some sort of product (or maybe even a dawn wash :secret ) before I apply zaino? Ill appreciate any suggestions. thx

Anything to remove the oils will be fine. Alcohol or a cleaner like an AIO. Most people probably prep the paint with ZAIO, but I have a large container of KAIO that I`ve always used with good results. You`re right, it can last 6-12 months w/o ever being garaged.

Use what you like and what works to polish out the defects before Zaino.

Unless you use Z-PC before layering on the Z5/Z2 Pro, you will need to re-wash the car or wipe it down with IPA. Also, I have noticed a better application and overall appearance enhancement with using Z-PC followed by Z5 Pro vs. polishing with 106FF, wiping with alcohol and applying.

jt- here`s the process a detailer followed when he did my Black Z a couple weeks back.

Once the paint was corrected, Z5 was used, since then it`s gotten another coat or two followed by Z8.

    -------------------------------

I removed the defects with 2-3x and a few areas needed 4x of M105/edge yellow wool/1700.

    I used a orange CCS 4" foam pad in the tighter areas w/ 70% M105 and 30% Presta 1500.

I then finished out with 3M ultrafina/ blue CCS pad/1700.

I washed the car with Z7 carwash to remove the polishing oils and dust.

    I applied 2x of Z5pro followed by Z8.

^^^ Jaw dropping. Wow. Whoever did your car is one talented detailer.
Sage advice from Greg Nichols: "Hey, Supe? When you`re trying to get the air bubble out of your syringe of Opti-Coat, don`t point it at your face, mmmkay?"

that z is the way black should look thats how I want my black jetta to look. I never thought about using z7 to wash prior to adding z5 or any other zaino product. Does it seem like the z5 is holding up pretty well on your corvette?

Yep, GMBlack, aka Bryan here in Atlanta did the leg work on the Z.

Use nothing by Z5, Clear Seal and Z8 on the Vette. You`ll find Zaino won`t attract dust and pollen like most waxes and it lasts for months. Mine is a daily driver, 60 miles per day and has never looked better.

I prefer ZPC or Z-AIO for prepping the surface for Zaino.

I use 3m, M105 and Menzerna products for removing swirls and as long as I do a 50/50 wipe or follow up with one of the above I never have any bonding issues.
