I just had my hood painted a couple of weeks ago. There are some swirls in the hood where it looks like he Buffed the new paint. Can I use 3M Swirl mark Remover on this new paint?

If it was done recent, take it back to did the work and have them do it.

I would use 3M PIII-MG or Megs SFP in the bodyshop line.

You will get better results with those.

3M SMR is also good and has it good points and pad point. I`d stay within a bodyshop approved for use polish/glaze on new paint as you do not want any wax that can be included in some glazes such as PIII-FG which has carnuba.

You might want to call and talk to the body shop about how long they recommend you wait before you apply any sealant/wax to the paint......or make doubly sure the stuff you use is body shop safe if you are under their time suggestions. I see you live in irving im out in plano you might want to look up English Color as they have locations scattered across the metroplex and have all sorts of detailing goodies.

Cheetoh- Actually, 3M`s SMR is designed for EXACTLY that purpose, the removal of very minor, rotary induced swirls. It`s OK to use a (preferably mild) abrasive polish on new paint, most likely the shop already did (and they caused your swirls in the process).

*BUT*, as Deanski said, your REALLY oughta take it back to the shop. They botched up when the gave you the car with marring in the finish. Let THEM fix it, then it`s ALL on them. Otherwise they can blame YOU, say you caused it. Make sure they don`t just glaze it with something containing a lot of fillers (this includes 3M`s SMR) or the problem will just come back. You paid for it, make `em do it right :xyxthumbs
