Hey all, as previously promised, here`s an update on my newly paint hood + fenders : the guy used Dupont paint, which is ok, and the hood + fenders looks real good, plus he did match the metallic in my black paint to perfection, BUT i don`t know if it ever happened to you but although the guy did a very good job on my repaint, he DID add some new chips, and god knows i inspected the car very thoroughly before he got there, so yesterday moving around the car i was white with rage :grrr, now i don`t exaclty know what to do with this, i mean if i go back and point those out the the guy, he` ll prolly say :*how can you prove this?* and second if he correct the damages, will he add some more elsewhere ?:angry It`s soooo frustrating cause i had finished working around the car(winter prep that is ) and now i got to repair his mistakes..........there isnt much i can add to this exept that i had warned the guy THRICE and each and every time i made a point of the fact that i didnt want any damage to be done round the car.

Is this frequent with paintjobs, or am i way too demanding ?......need help here on what you would do in this situation.

    take care all

Chip Douglas- Oh jeez, I`m really sorry to hear that. NO, it`s NOT "normal", no excuse for it. Paint/body guys OF ALL PEOPLE should know/do better. What kind of chips and where?

Too bad you didn`t notice when you picked it up. I always spend a LONG time inspecting the car all over, using a high powered flashlight. Your really do have to find such stuff before you leave the shop. Whenever I did NOT do this, I ended up regretting it. Sorry, don`t mean to rub salt in a wound. Live and learn.

I`ll be VERY surprised if you can get any satisfaction from the shop. As you suspect, they`ll probably say "hey, WE didn`t do it!". Still, I`d take it back to them, show them the chips, and (politely but assertively) let them know that it happened at their shop and you want the situation rectified. See what they say and how you feel about their response.

as for chips i got two of em on the edge of left front fender(a big one and a smaller) + one on the lower half of right door(a big one.......he did a repair on the rocker panel on that same side).......plus i got a big one on right side of bumper.

I`ll do as you say accumulator, and sk politely, though im 100% sure it was done there............but what annoys me most is how come they can`t seem to do a repair and not damage another area on the car ??? i know for a fact that we human arent perfect but i guarantee you if i did the job, i wouldnt have that kind of damage........im soooooo meticulous.

    talk to you later bud

This won`t help your current situation but what I do any time I am going to leave my car with a shop be it service or body shop I take the service manager on a walk around and in my case point out there is no chips/swirls/scrapes/dents anywhere except for the one ina froont wheel. Also point out the engine is spotless as is the interior. No dirty hand prints etc and I tell him I expect it back this way.

It might be anal but if something happens or something is stolen your covered. If you have a lot of aftermarket stuff like stereos, antennas, wheel center caps etc etc make an inventory sheet for him to sign off to the effect that its was there when you dropped it off.

very nice advice there Jesstzn, i`ll have no choice but do like you`ve been doing....some people just don`t care much about other`s belongings so, i guess we have to mean business when it comes to car servicing as well as bodyshop repairs.

take care and thanks for your input........later !:xyxthumbs

not really, the stupid waiver they make you sign before service (which states they are not responsible for anything) always says it superceeds any other agreement, written or verbal.

Waver or not it it doesn`t give them the right to damage your car then say it wasn`t them. By doing a walk around it takes the doubt out of the condition of the car when they take posession.

i agree with you, it sure doesnt give them the right to damage a car, but the thing is some people unless the car belongs to them wont show much care(as sad and annoying as this may sound) :angry
