The Trim on my car - as BMW calls it - Shadowline trim, is not faded but just *dull*. It`s a gloss black coated aluminum trim.

I want to bring the luster back without being too agreesive on the trim. What do suggest.

It`s black paint with a clearcoat. Just treat it the way you would with paint. As with the low-gloss shadowline trim found in the 3`s and 530i, you can just use a dressing.
