I just bought a beautiful silver 02 ford ranger FX4 and I`m about to give it a once over. I`m going to use Meg`s Gold class on it and I`m wondering if anyone has any tricks to keep from getting it on the black wheel well moldings. My only thought was to tape off all the molding with 3m tape before I start. Any other suggestions.

Also, I`ve been reading here for a few days and have done some research on using a clay bar. I just thouroughly cleaned off a section and went over it with plastic over my hand to try and feel for bumps. It felt completely and totally smooth and I`m thinking about bypassing the claying part of the prep stage. Bad idea or good. Any opinions and or comments are welcome.

    Thanks in advance,

    Josh

Find a product that won`t stain would be my suggestion. I would suggest Poorboy`s Polish With Carnauba topped of with Natty`s Paste Wax myself. If your paint feels smooth and has no rail dust in it I say go ahead and skip the clay.
