I know Scottwax knows Optimum Spray well , everyone else also - out of curiosity , if I wanted to go " carnuba crazy " and layer to death how do you think this " 10 stage combo " would work out ?

    1. Polish with Poorboy`s carnauba professional polish ( blue )

    2. Apply EX in 2 layers one after the other

2.5 A wipedown with PB Qd+ ( between 1st and final layer of EX )

    BEFORE

    3. a final layer of EX 24-48 hours later

    4. Another QD+ spray down 1 week later after wash with PB wash

    5. > A layer or two of optimum spray wax

    6. A layer or two of Collinite 845IW 24-48 hours later

    7. a QD with QD+ , followed by

7.5 another QD with clearKote`s qd

    8. A layer of White Carnuba Moose wax or two

    9. A layer of natty`s blue

Is this completely ridiculous , some layers 24-48 hours apart , some a week apart to allow complete curing ?

    >> How would the layers stick/bond to each other being that they are all carnauba / polymer hybrids up until the Collinite , and how would they mess up any of each other`s look and make it appear .

    " unclear " or the likes ?

Anything negative that could come out of this like even less so in overall durability than using polish + one or two of the items only .

It was late when I thought this up yes .. :nervous:

I always tend to find myself trying stuff over other stuff when I cant resist buying it and it arrives. With Carnuaba`s after washing I end up trying out the new ones without any real side effects. Same with OCW, just threw that on after a wash and QD. Never done what you are planning to do in such a military style operation out way!

Didn`t somebody have some kind of issue with using the ClearKote stuff over 845?

so collinite over clearKote ? :-)

And are clearkote`s claim of about 6 months worth of carnuba moose protection an exaggeration at all ?

Almost sounds like what I`m going to do. Except mines like 14 steps not including QDs and polish or washing or claying. Thats my preperation for a car show several weeks in advance. And its new paint, with no flaws! I still gotta wait another week or so to try it (new paint). I think I`ll post my list like you did and see if any will be a waist. Good luck with your excessive detail job. Oh, ya and you gotta post pics after.

pontman actually the car is being somewhat refinished now due to a few uhh mishaps and incompatibility of touch up paints from a body shop .

I am just REALLY curious how well all of those would bond to one another and if it would be waste somewhat . Waste meaning one is removing the previous and/or they are not going to last as long as one or two would only .

So once those issues are handled it might end up being an xtreme makeover type deal , but yes photos will be up .

The optimum polish and AIO & SG is going onto my car with 845 IW as the topper ;-)

    Edited plan

    4. Another QD+ spray down 1 week later after washing with PB wash

    5. > A layer or two of optimum spray wax few days later

    6. A layer of White Carnuba Moose wax or two few days later also

    7. a QD with QD+ , followed by

7.5 another QD with clearKote`s qd

    8. A layer or two of Collinite 845IW 24-48

    9. A layer of natty`s blue

Mainly will the optimum still work as well over the EX + QD or no - that is the only " rough spot " that I can see in this plan . If there are others please do point them out

    Thanx guys

I would use the OSW as a spit shine for the waxes and then use spray and gloss for the final spit shine.

I layer carnaubas between polishing, mostly just because it gives unreal depth and glow. True, you no longer get the exact true color of your paint but if you want liquid depth, 2-4 layers of carnauba will give it to you. I think it is best to wash the car in between layers instead of using a QD to make sure any remaining oils from the previous wax don`t interfere with the new coat.

I`d use CMW under Nattys or Collinite since CMW will darken the color slightly. I like to start with carnaubas the darken the paint and finish with carnaubas that are more nuetral. If I ever get the time, I`m going to start with Optimum Polish, then Vanilla Moose, Red Machine Glaze, Yellow Creme Wax and Carnauba Moose. Wait a couple days, add another layer of CMW and then finish with Collinite 845 a few days after that. Odds are I will not get the time for the initial prep and CMW for a while though.

Thank you Scott for the tip about washing instead of QD`ing to wash away excess oils .

So at which point do I fit the Optimum in though is what I would love to know guys .

Doesn`t make sense to me to use it last in the sense that it is a sealant type wax right ?

Then again if it could in fact bond to the last layer fairly well that could protect all of the previous layers maybe ? Not if the previous layers " naturally wear down " on their own though ?

I`d use OCW to maintain the look.
