    Additional Uses for DA

On the fence whether to purchase DA or have someone correct/polish cars before applying OC2.

What other uses for the DA do people have around the house/shop?

Many people use them with brushes to clean carpet. It is possible to polish glass with a D.A.

Oh yeah, they make one great sander as well!

Sanding, as in wood sanding? Wouldn`t a DA make a horrible mess of anything with a grain?

I don`t know but they`re probably more suited for fast material (paint) removal.

A polisher will pay for itself after one use so if you only use it on rare occasions it`s still worth it in my opinion.

Get a Harbor Freight DA for $50 and do it yourself

I`ve used mine to polish the scratches out of my stainless appliances

A 7424xp/ Megs 110v2 or a Griots 6`` will pay for it self after one or two uses vs a pro detailer paint correction. Who knows maybe pick up a little coin doing a few cars along the way.

If you have any projects that require sanding/polishing, a DA is super handy. I also use mine to clean my shower tile, polish water spots off my show door glass, clean my stainless steel appliances and scrub my carpets.

That depends on how bad the soap build up, etchings etc. are.

I start with Carpro Spotless then (if needed) LC white foam & M101/M205
You can then put a good sealant or coating on the glass once it`s polish.

    Re: Additional Uses for DA

Putting together my order for the 7424xp. I`m buying it with the Lake CCS pads (2 orange, 3 white). Going with Optimum Polish II and Compound II to prep for OC2.

What other accessories should I look at for carpet cleaning and polishing around the house? backing plates, brushes, pads

Is 3" plate/pads worthwhile for paint correction or alternate uses?

    Should I think about more/different 6.5" pads?

    Yes.
Instead of 6.5 inch pads, I would go with 5.5 inch pads.

If it were me...(to start) I`d go with...

    5" backing plate
Meguiars Mirror Glaze W67DA G110 DA Polisher 5 inch Backing Plate

Lake Country 5 1/2 Inch Flat Pads 6 Pack
    2) Orange 2) White 1) Black 1) Blue

    Correction Polish
    My favorite "swirl killer" combo.
Meguiars DMC5 DA Microfiber Cutting Discs, 5 inches
    and
Meguiars D30016 DA Microfiber Correction Compound 16 oz

    Pad on-the-fly cleaning tools
For the mf discs Safe Scrub Bug & Tar Pad
    and
For the Foam pads Meguiars Professional Pad Conditioning Brush

    Finishing Polish
    CarPro Reflect Polish 250 ml.

This would be my (machine, pad, polish) "starter" list.

Did I mention that high QUALITY microfiber towels are VERY important?

    Re: Additional Uses for DA

I only listed two compounds/polishes in the above "starter" list.

    IMHO

Megs Ultimate Compound/Polish are good starter foam pad products.
These are fairly safe "consumer" products and help a "newbie" learn.

    Why?
D300 (Non-Diminishing Abrasive) leaves a light fog and slight haze.
It`s easy to learn and use and it`s a friendly product that "works".

Reflect (Diminishing) clears the D300 haze and leaves a nice gloss.
I`ve found M205 works well but IMHO Reflect "kicks it up a notch".

We both know product and pad combinations could go on forever.
This is just a little 1-2 step to help a newbie easily "Git` `Er Done".

    Am I a fan...I guess so..for me...
"If I could only have two products they would be M101 & Reflect."

"I once put holograms in paint just to see what they looked like...Stay swirl free my friends."
