I`m getting a "500 internal server error" when I just tried it. Doesn`t even try to re-direct to any other site. I agree it appears to be some sort of movement afoot.

EDIT: Besides, it`s not going to that Blackfire page anymore, seems to be back to the database error message, which I think just points to that they are working on it and shuffling some things around.
Oh, we were getting different results then. I wasn`t aware of any DNS changes nor did I experience that. As you say, it is definitely in a state of flux. Typically one sees the admin hang the internet equivalent of an "out to lunch, be back soon" sign on a site that`s down for planned maintenance. I do hope they bring it back and that whatever they`re doing also addresses the performance issues that had made it borderline unusable in the last week or two . . . maybe even do a better job of combatting the spammers while they`re at it. (hey, one can hope!)

I`m pretty sure I didn`t use the right lingo, as I said, you`re the computer guy.

If you say so; networking and PC`s aren`t really my thing, I`d just like AGO to be up and available again.

I have been doing *enterprise* computing for over 40 years - large scale computing systems that make up the backend of pretty much any Fortune 100 firm, even these days. This is not in my wheelhouse - I have a passing knowledge as much of what we deliver to clients is (eventually) provided through some type of web or web-ish process, portal, or whatever the kids with the cool hair-do`s call it these days. So I know enough to be dangerous but don`t profess to be a web or web-hosting expert. I DO have the same experiences as many others here and elsewhere of having watched/experienced websites going offline and the various reasons behind that - both those given and those real. The transition of AGO from mostly OK, to kind of OK, to frequently unresponsive, to offline but with an explanatory banner page to online but with the wrong content and an expired/mismatched security cert has been distressing to watch as it makes me concerned that the entity managing this may not be able to preserve the *content* that makes/made AGO valuable to this reader. That said - I never paid a dime for it other than having been a customer of AG - so it`s not like I fell I have some right to get all honked off about it, just continue to be concerned that it *might* not come back or if it does it *might* not have been able to preserve the existing content.

So, yes, I am a computer guy but just not the right kind for this particular type of computing. In automotive terms I guess I`m more of a NA SBC guy in a world of turbocharged OHC`s. I *kind* of know how they work but not enough to offer particularly meaningful or helpful insight.

I understand exactly what that is, I just thought as we transitioned from centralized systems (mainframe) to decentralized systems (PC`s) and then back to centralized systems, sort of (internet), I thought everybody wound up having to be a CNE etc. to get taken seriously. I guess you`re a dedicated back-office guy, a vanishing breed. I bet you used to do RPG back in the day.

Ha! Blast from the past. That`s even *farther* back when I was at a different firm (so maybe 45 years ago?) on a System 36 (precursor to System 38, precursor to AS/400 now iSeries) and we used RPG III . . . on 96 column punch cards, no less. As I rotated through many different hats *here* I did have a role where a bunch of AS/400 systems (using RPG) were ultimately under my umbrella but I was very hands-off on that as we were fortunate to have very capable staff on that platform.

    Re: Autogeek online

Confirmed on the MP forum, AGO is migrating to new software. From what is coming up now at AGO, the software is Xenforo, which is what MP uses. Whether they do the same thing here or shut Autopia down remains to be seen.

This is the quote from over there from AG customer service:

"We should have it back up shortly, we ran into some software issues and need to do a full update and migrate the forum into a new software due to unsupported software that is no longer available. "

I see the Xenforo appears to be up and running but can`t recognize my login/pw. Hope that`s temporary or they send out something to reset pw`s to gain access (or post similar banner on the site). Still hoping that they were able to xfer the content from the old system to the new system. fingers crossed

It says there are 3 members so I don`t think it will recognize anyone`s username/password unless they will migrate them over.

It would seem there is still a lot of work to do.
