Just ordered some grey polos from the internet and plan on buying some new cargo shorts, so I can use my older ones to detail.
Gotta look right in front of clients right?

Thats pretty much what I wear, well at least in the spring and summer.
You want to look presentable but still be comfortable to detail.
I like beer. On occasion I will even drink a beer to celebrate a major event such as the fall of communism or the fact that our refrigerator is still working.

Image plays a big part in your success especially if your after the retail market.
Everyone seems to have their own idea of what is proper though. I wear a grey t-shirt with the company name and a one line description of what we do across the front. My new partner asked me why we don`t have phone numbers on our shirts and I told him it`s because I don`t try to use my shirt as an ad tool. I`ve thought about putting a catchy slogan or some phrase like "Ask me what I can do for your vehicle", but I don`t see the point in having your phone number on there though unless it is catchy.
A fellow mobile detailer in my area wears a black t-shirt with bright yellow lettering and he believes that is best for his business. Working in a black shirt in the Florida summer sun is a big mistake if you ask me but he is sold on the idea.
Speaking of black being a mistake IMO, there was a mobile detailing company in town for a couple years that used to use a black F250 Crew Cab and a big black enclosed trailer to work out of.
I always shook my head when I saw it because I knew he had to spend so much time trying to keep his set-up looking nice and it just didn`t make sense to me. I`m sure he saw it as a great advertising tool.
I really only detail for friends or friends of friends, so how I look doesnt really matter so much. I wear what I consider "work" clothes. Usually older clothes because I know that if I wear older clothes, I wont spill anything on them, but if I wear newer nicer clothes they will be covered in product.

You should wear somethign that is comfortable, but presentable. If you have a business logo, look into getting some embroidered shirts. They do get expensive in small quantities. You might get lucky enough to find a company that will embroided clothing that you buy.
Look for polos designed for golf. They are often made of material that wick moisture away from your skin and keep you cooler.

Good advice Scott. I am looking into ones for us right now (for us to wear in the new store ). I was thinking of getting the ones made for coaches. They usually are made with the light weight material too and are designed a little sportier (Dual colored design). They are a bit pricey though. The cheapest ones I have found so far are $30. each with embroidery.
Since I only detail my own and family cars I don`t have to worry about this. In the summer I usually wear swim trunks, a tee-shirt, and crocs.

I detail naked
Really I wear draw string shorts, an old T of some sort and a pair of tennis shoes that are ratty from product being dripped all over them...When I pickup and delivery the cars, I change into some nice shorts a good T and some clean tennis shoes...

Beemerboy - I guess being naked could have the advantage of not scratching the paint with your beltbuckle, etc.
Just be extra careful when shutting the doors.
