... I am.... to much debris drops off of those darn things! I find myself hanging back in traffic so I can pass them quickly in order to minimize the chance of debris shot-pening the front of my car.

Am I alone with this anal-retentive manuver?

I live near a couple of huge gravel quarries. I`ve learned to stay as far away from these gravel trucks as possible. Even when they are a couple of lanes over to the right if you pass them on the freeway you can here the bits of gravel and sand hitting your vehicle.

Also flat beds with backhoes/Bobcats/ect. on them. There`s always nasty stuff coming off these trucks.

I can`t stand dump trucks!!! I had just got my dream car (M3) just before Thanksgiving and about 2 weeks later on the way to work I got rear ended by one. I honestly thought I was going to lose it. We were in stop and go traffic on the highway and I saw the truck pull up behind. No big deal right? Always better behind you than following one. Anyways, my line of traffic start to move and BAM! Turns out the drive "lost" me and started to move as soon as the car in front of me started to move. She, yes I said she completely cleared my bumper and got my trunk.

Anyways, all is back to original and the body guy did an excellent job matching the paint. All in all, things could have been a lot worse, she could have ended up in my back seat.
