Grading the pond: Part 1
- [Narrator] Let's move on to the next part of our storm design, the detention pond. What we're about to do is create a detention pond on the west side of this parking lot. And let's just assume we've done some drainage calculations and we've determined the dimensions of the pond. And we're just going to go to work with kind of laying that out. Now I want to work off the edge of the parking lot just so I practice good drafting and make things parallel. I don't want to just drop a rectangle in here roughly and call that good. So I'll start by simply drawing a polyline along the edge of this berm behind the curb. Just snap to the lower left corner and then the upper left corner. Then I'm going to do a couple of offsets. So my first offset will be ten feet. And this will establish some space for me to transition my elevations from the back of the curb to the pond. I'll explain more on that later. And then another ten feet for the berm of the pond. I'll offset again, this time 100 feet…
