About Windows 11
- [Instructor] In this section, I'd like to talk briefly about the different versions of Windows 11. Microsoft does a good job of maintaining documentation about this on their website. So you could probably just go to your favorite search engine and search for Windows 11 versions and get the information that you're looking for. Here in the Microsoft site, off the dropdown menu called Windows OS, I'll select Windows 11 and then select compare Windows 11 versions and if I scroll down, the part I find the most useful is here where you have a list of the different versions and then check marks next to each feature. So it shows us what features are available in what version. Currently, Windows 11 is available as Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro. I'm going to be running Windows 11 Pro in my demonstrations. But as you can see, many of the features are the same. The exception to that is BitLocker. So if you're running Windows 11 Pro you will be able to use BitLocker, if you're running Windows 11 Home you will not be able to use BitLocker. Most of the other features I'll be demonstrating in this course, should exist in both versions. To find out exactly what version you're using, off the start menu you can type in version and that'll bring up a match for system information. When I click on that, it takes me to an area that shows me lots of information about my PC. The things I'm most interested in are here near the top. The OS name I'm running is Microsoft Windows 11 Pro and specifically version 10.0.22000. Depending upon how far in the future you are from me, you'll probably be running a slightly different version but I imagine most of the major features in Windows 11 will remain the same for at least a year or two.
